Punawale was a farming village until the late 1990s. The growth of the Hinjewadi IT park changed that, and today it is one of the busiest areas for new housing on the western edge of Pimpri-Chinchwad, between Tathawade and Ravet.
Most homes are in recently completed high-rise societies, so it is a good place to look for a newer ready-to-move flat with full amenities. The trade-off is that roads, water and public transport are still catching up with the pace of construction.
Roads
Close to the Mumbai–Bengaluru highway (NH 48) and the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, which helps for regular trips to Mumbai. Hinjewadi is reached through Tathawade and Wakad.
